Krillion Tips
10 practical strategies to find rarer answers, beat the clock and dive deeper in Krillion.
Krillion looks simple: seven prompts, a short timer and a box to type your answer. But the players who dive deepest every day aren’t just trivia experts. They know how the scoring works and they’ve built habits that turn common knowledge into rare answers.
These are the Krillion tips that made the biggest difference to our own dives.
How Krillion scoring works
Each daily dive has seven open-ended prompts, such as “name a country whose name ends in O”, and you have 25 seconds to answer each one. A correct answer moves your dive deeper, and the fewer other players who gave the same answer, the deeper it takes you. The obvious answer everyone types counts for much less.
That one rule shapes every strategy below: you want answers that are definitely correct, but that most people won’t think of.
10 Krillion tips to dive deeper
Skip your first thought
The first answer that pops into your head is usually the first answer that pops into everyone’s head. Keep it in your back pocket as a safe fallback, and spend a second looking for something less obvious.
Correct beats clever
A rare answer only counts if it’s right. If you’re not sure your obscure pick fits the prompt, a correct common answer is worth more than a wrong rare one.
Go one layer deeper
For “a country ending in O”, most people type Mexico or Morocco. Togo, Lesotho, Monaco and Montenegro are all correct and far less common. Look for the answer that sits just behind the famous one.
Run the alphabet
If your mind goes blank, walk through the alphabet: A… B… C… Letters trigger memories much faster than staring at the prompt, and the answers you find this way are rarely the popular ones.
Think in subcategories
Break big prompts into smaller groups. For “a company in the S&P 500”, skip the tech giants and think about utilities, insurers, railroads or retailers. Each subcategory is full of correct answers that few people reach for.
Build your mental lists
Some categories come up again and again: countries, capitals, US states, chemical elements, sports teams, famous films. The more of each list you can recall, the more rare answers you have ready to go.
Practice with “name them all” quizzes
Sporcle’s timed quizzes (“name every country in Africa”, “name every NBA team”) are the best Krillion training there is. A few minutes a day quietly expands the answers you can reach under pressure.
Respect the clock
The timer is short, so don’t hunt for the perfect answer until it runs out. Give yourself a couple of seconds to find something rarer, and if nothing comes, commit to your safe answer.
Type carefully
Use the most standard spelling of names and places so your answer is recognized. A great answer is wasted if a typo stops it from counting.
Play the whole dive, not one prompt
Your score comes from all seven prompts. One shallow answer won’t ruin your day, so take bigger risks on topics you know well and play it safer on the ones you don’t.

How do you get a high score in Krillion?
Give answers that are correct but uncommon. Skip the first answer you think of, look one layer deeper into the category, and keep a safe answer ready in case the timer runs low.
Should I always go for the rarest answer?
Only when you’re sure it’s correct. A wrong rare answer doesn’t help your dive, so on topics you don’t know well, a correct common answer is the better choice.
